  • I want the room properly dark

    Blackout roller, zebra or roman, with side channels if it really matters.

  • I want light but not the glare

    Sheer horizontals or a transparent solar screen. Keeps the view, kills the hotspot.

  • There are kids or pets in the house

    Anything cordless or motorised. No hanging cords at all.

  • It's a kitchen or bathroom

    Faux wood or aluminium. Both wipe clean and neither warps in steam.

  • I can't reach the window

    Motorised, on a battery tube motor. Stairwells and two-storey glass.

  • I want it to feel soft, not hard

    Drapery or roman shades. Real fabric with weight and drape.
